White Lace Nail Polish Tutorial

Kay found a cool photo of lacquered black lace nails. We decided to experiment with white lace, which we were both pleasantly surprised.

First we cut the lace out into roughly the size of the nail using fabric scissors. We found it was safer to cut the lace a little smaller than the nail- saves you having to trim it down afterwards.

Next, we used OPI clear top coat as a base coat. Whilst the nailpolish is still tacky, we apply the lace on top of the nail. We finished with another coat of clear nailpolish to seal the lace into place.
After it dried, we used mini scissors (from those manicure sets) to trim off any fray ends.

White lace nailpolish!

Groom fashions

How about the boys?

I like the skinny black tie with a sharp suit...
A vest is nice...

Maybe paired with his favourite sneakers?

Don't braces just added that extra vintage touch?

But hey - our colour theme is black, white and pink

And look at this groom - he wore a pink bowtie!

I'm impressed...can't get the boy to go near one of those but maybe this photo will change his mind?

Wall art inspiration

I'd love to put together some pieces of art for the "new" home.

Found these lovely works of art and children's books on Black Eiffel of Spanish art team Milimbo. I love how simple their designs are and yet they still make a great impact with their use of shape and colour.

the hunt for good coffee (in Japan)

When I travelled to Japan, I wasn't into coffee at all so finding a daily caffeine fix didn't bother me. However, my travel companion Wei really struggled (I mean struggled) to find good coffee.

And then I learn after my coffee revelation of recent years that in fact the Japanese are doyennes of coffee - the geniuses behind refining the artforms of latte art, syphon and cold drip etc etc.

Perhaps Wei and I were looking at the wrong streets and alley ways!

We would have done well if we had known about this website hello sandwich - a comprehensive guide to many gorgeous cafes dotted around Japan's suburbs by an Aussie gal who loves all things Japan.

I like that at this particularly cafe, the owner advises her to order a 'flat white' in english in an aussie accent! And she claims this to be the best coffee in Japan - and she's an Aussie so I trust her opinion here.

I am definitely visiting this place and the many other adorable cafes on this blog. The Japanese bring retro and whimsy to an art form.

Bridesmaid hairstyles

Enough about my hair for the wedding...I have short hair so it's all about accessories for me but Charli as maid of honour has lovely longer locks and she is quite the self-styling hair fashionista extraordinaire! I don't know how she does it, my arms would tire and perhaps that's also why I keep my hair short!

For the wedding, I was thinking of having their hair up in a beautiful romantic braid. Just like this one I found on the ilovemuffins blog (hello! how cute is the name?). The article comes with a link to a "how to" youtube clip.

So sweet.

Prada Shoes DIY

I have been browsing the greater cyberworld for ideas on shoes for the wedding.

This may not be the type of shoes I'm looking for but I love an easy DIY project that can convert a standard pair of shoes into a brand new catwalk ready number. So perhaps I got a little distracted on my journey through shoe land.

Check out the details here at the Vamoose and some of her other very pretty creations too.

Let them Drink

I've been doing some inspiration research for kay's hen's party and have been in secret discussions for themes/mood of the event with fellow bridesmaid. I keep getting different ideas from all these wonderful blogs out there, that I can't decide on anything

...that is until i stumbled on this.

We have to serve this at Kay's. This is too cute!

More Birdcages...

During my mini holiday in Taiwan, I went to check out the 101 Tower. Apparently, it was the tallest building in the world....until Dubai came along to dominate the "World's Biggest..." List.

Check out the Louis Vuitton frontage in Taiwan's 101 tower...handbags AND birdcages! My two loves combined.

world map decal

Ahhh....planning for the honeymoon! The best bit really because it means travel time.

Where to go?

This world map decal is serving as our latest source of inspiration.

Here are a couple of photos showing the application process of the decal onto the wall. It was a two person job because of the size. We are very pleased with the results!

Here's the preparation photo:

And this is what it looks like!

Available here from multiple etsy sellers. We just need to decide how we wish to label where we have already been and where we want to go to next. Where oh where to next?
