Happy Friday

I know what you are thinking, TGIF!

And what more would possibly confirm the need for a weekend than if you were to turn to this clock at the end of today and see all those formulae! I am sure my mind would go into a knot and plead for mercy.

Stop looking at it, it hurts my brain too much.

But if you want one of these torture clocks, look for it here.

Have a great weekend friends...void of mathematically related things unless that works for you...

washington music download

As a similiarly glasses toting lady with short dark hair, I happen to feel a kindrid thing with Washington. She is one cool gal...and that's just her style because let's not forget to mention her music!

With her debut album about to hit the streets, the record label is giving away a free track for you to download right here {via: yenmag}

Featured: Love by Geneine Honey

There is something about bicycle-styled accessories
that politely exclaim 'Yes, I admit, I'm kind of a hipster'.

These are from Melbourne's Love by Geneine Honey.

Fake Streetsigns in Lyon, France

Heard something on the weekend about going to France.

So you haven't been to France, and you just got given a free trip there, and get to live in France for a year totally free. What do you need to do to prepare? Learn the language maybe, learn a bit about the culture. Imagine what it would be like to live in France... Maybe plan to see some of the sights like the fake streetsigns in Lyon, France (Panos 2013 exhibition):

The punchline: apply the same preparation but replace France = Heaven. Mm. I heard that and I saw the signs (pardon the pun) and just had to share it with you.

Life instyle trade show

Did you know there's a trade show called 'Life Instyle'.

Over one week,
cool stuff converges in one spot (Flemington, Melbourne) and
people with shops then buy that stuff...
think homewares, fashion accessories, stationery.

My friend was exhibiting her range of jewellery - tu ware -
and I got an exhibitors pass to visit one night.

it's an interesting experience for me to see brands that i've seen in Australian magazines and blogs marketing themselves in this way. It's kind of humbling - people making your fabulous jewellery and bags are so hardworking at being creative. And after a hard day's work, you can bump into your fellow exhibitors at Flemington's Laksa King!

Old Green Bean Cafe

The Old Green Bean Cafe became my local haunt when I was up in Bendigo. This gorgeous little cafe is just my cup of uh...coffee. Part microroastery part vintage shop, I loved the eclectic decor and their never ending supply of foodie magazines to browse through. And of course there's the coffee which was superbly made (they knew my order - a must!) and they have delicious, freshly prepared food.

Seating is around small side tables, along the window ledge, on the comfy sofas or on one of two large communal tables. It can become quite crowdy during the lunchtime crowd so I would recommend coming in early to nab a spot!

They are still a very young venture and their in-house roasting has not been established yet but I can tell by the passion behind the owners that their home blends will be great.

I hope I can go back to visit one day! Thank you for the many many coffees : )

Michael Jackson + Heels Love

When I was four, my sister would have to run into the video store ahead of me to hide Michael Jackson's Moonwalker video...if she wasn't fast enough, I would find it and insist on hiring it...

Oyee Design has released a pair of heels complete with Michael Jackson vector art and lyrics. You can't exactly do the Moonwalk in them but I think they're one of the classier fashion nods to the King of Pop.

Society6

Society6 is a website where different artists can show off their talents to the general public for immediate sale as prints, t-shirts, iphone covers or skins. What a great platform for graphic artists out there. Charli - this post is for you!

There is a huge range available and i particularly love the typography section.

Star Wars Fashion

Adidas has released their Star Wars inspired clothing and sneakers. They have C3PO, R2D2, Stormtrooper, Chewbecca and even Jabba the Hut Sneakers.
Unfortunately, I don't think the Adidas Wookie jacket comes with the bandolier...yes, i had to google what that ammo strap was called.

This post is dedicated to the geeky boys who follow our blog and think it's getting way too girlie.

Hermes blog

Isn't it great? Didn't you hear? Hermes has a blog and it's very very cool.

It features girls from the most fashion forward cities around the globe (think Paris and Tokyo and New York) showing off Hermes scarves (of course) in numerous creative ways.

Love its 'off the street' styling - something you don't necessarily except with a high fashion house like Hermes. Makes it seem almost affordable! I guess everyone has to embrace technology now too!

I have to wear a headscarf at work - I wonder if I could get away with a headscarf worn like one of these fashion savvy ladies?

Guilfoyles Volcano

Went for a walk in the Royal Botanical Garden on the weekend and stumbled upon the latest addition there. The Guilfoyles Volcano. A water reservoir with a huge array of succulents around the volcano. A boardwalk that winds around to the top, leads to an amazing view of Melbourne and the garden. At the top of the volcano, there are floating islands of water plants that purify the water. Very cool. At times, I felt like I was in the middle of a Texas desert. It was quite surreal.

DIY: String Balls

Last week I decided to try making some hollow string balls for decoration for Kay's kitchen tea...as a bit of a test run. I wanted to make them huge but I figured I better play it safe and start with a manageable small size. 1. Choose a baby pink and blue wool. Then mixed some white glue with water. (My glue had tiny flecks of glitter in it)
2. Blow balloon into desired size. As you wrap the wool(or string) around the balloon, use a paintbrush to paint the glue onto the wool. Once you're wrapped it around enough, I cut the end and tuck it under all the other layers of wool so it doesn't pop out. I then tie a string to the end of the balloon and let it hang whilst it dries.
3. After drying, I then pop the balloon gentle and remove the balloon. Don't worry if the wool shrinks with the balloon. I totally freaked out and thought I blew it but it will return to a ball again. I spray with hairspray again for added firmness.
