Snow Berries Bouquets

I met up with my florist last week to finalise everything. Due to all the flooding and rainy weather in Melbourne, the prices of roses had gone up, and hydrangeas were not doing well at all. After a long discussion of alternate ideas (to stay within budget,) this problem was a blessing in design. Because I found out my snowberries were in season, undamaged from the flooding, and would be a perfect alternative to the bouquets. So introducing to you.... Snowberry Inspiration!

The last picture is kind of the vibe and scheme we decided to go with. How cute are the berries? I think they add a touch of whimsy and vintage 'bubbly-ness(?)' to any arrangement. I'm very excited to have these now involved in my wedding....A few days to go to the big day...

Eco-friendly wedding invites by Greenvelope

At our wedding we made the decision to send out e-invites and managed all our guest responses with spread sheets developed by my IT savvy (then-) fiance. It felt right both from an environmental point of view as well as placing a modern geeky spin on the wedding invite.

Besides, what do people do with the invite after the wedding is over? And really how many of your guests don't have an email address?

With a vision to reduce the carbon footprint of other wedding couples, Greenvelope was developed by outdoor enthusiast and young entrepreneur Sam Franklin. His website allows couples to order online paperless wedding packages that range from save-the-dates, invites, envelopes and thank you notes. The site also lets couples manage their rsvp's and guest lists which makes planning such an ease. There are lots of designs to choose from and the website is really user friendly.

And to show he means business, for every purchase of a wedding invite package a 10% donation is given to Mountains for Sound, a not-for-profit forest preservation organisation.

Greenvelope has given Odd Sundays readers a special offer! From now until June 2011, enter the code: "OddSundays" for 25% off invitation purchases.

Braids, plaits and art

I've been a massive fan of plaits and braids ever since I could do my own hair. My Aunty in Malaysia used to own a beauty salon. The hairdresser there was a plump kindly type and took my 8 or 9 year old fuzzy frizzy hair and tamed it into a braid. 'Teach me, teach me!' I said. She did. Lesson gratefully learned.

Crochet necklaces - muntedkowhai

This Melbourne summer is cold - and I love all of it (except for rain sometimes). It's enjoyable to warm up with a bit of exercise or stay indoors and create... with crochet!

I think I saw these crochet necklaces in frankie mag. While I think, hey I could make that - I think that this girl does it way better! Check it out.

Rainy Wedding Idea

It may rain on my wedding. Kindof not cool. But the idea of wearing gumboots and using umbrellas...very appealing. Oh, well...who knows with Melbourne weather. I probably won't know the real weather until the day before the day.

DIY: Transforming Necklaces

I thought I'll share a quick tutorial on how I convert/update my necklace collection since I get a few compliments on this necklace.
I simply take a busy necklace like below:
I have a simple Anne Klein necklace that I wrap the leafy, busy necklace around the gold pendant and lock it (using it's own clasp.)
I love wearing this necklace but the best part of this method is that I can remove the busy necklace and still wear the Anne Klein necklace by itself.

Beatles Love

How cute is this poster? I love The Beatles....especially during the first two rows of the poster. Then they got a lil "I am a Walrus" and a lil odd for my taste. But still, John & Paul...Legend..ary
Found at booooooom.
Happy Friday!

Ellie Saab Spring 2011

Had a look at Ellie Saab's Spring 2011 collection and it made my heart jump for joy. Not just because of the flowing, soft fabric like below...
But because it finally hinted at bringing bright amazing colours back into the colour palette thats been pastels, nudes and neutrals that's been prevalent in all the stores (not that I don't love those colours...it's just...too much)
Now then, hello Red! I have missed you and if would be so kind as to rock the Melbourne scene quickly that would be great! 'Cos I can't find you anywhere!

Stylish (affordable) bookcases

Ooo. Cupboards. Zeksi.

I am into home deco at the moment - I have a built in cupboard on one side of the fireplace and nothing on the other. Maybe an ikea hack job will do - so many cool backgrounds, so affordable.
